Alligator Alley
Alligator Alley was written many years ago for a now defunct SF/Fantasy magazine, but it’s still entertaining.
At the time, the UFO scene was hot with lots of talk about alien abductions of various flavors. A number of books, articles, and other publicity scams were making the rounds and a lot of people were getting rich off the nonsense.
And yes, that’s what it is…nonsense.
Think about it…there is no logical reason for visiting aliens to abduct people and do the things the abductees claim. There is absolutely zero physical evidence of any kind. There is an infinitesimally small probability that there even are alien visitors.
But, it makes for good stories and the stories sell very well to a public looking for answers to the meaning of life.
In short, aliens and alien abductions are replacing religion as the mysticism of choice for many people. Maybe there is no God, so that means the aliens are running the show.
And so, when I was asked to write a fictional alien abduction story, Alligator Alley is what I came up with.
It’s silly, hokey, and pokes fun at the entire concept.
There have also been more than a few UFO “Experts” who have asked me who this happened to because they want to interview them.
In other words, the “UFO Researchers” think this could be real.
Please.
I hope you enjoy reading Alligator Alley
